FAQ

  • Permanent makeup is non-surgical implantation of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. Technically, cosmetic or semi-permanent tattoos are considered permanent because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. This process is a selective art form of traditional tattooing whereby the natural features of the face are enhanced and defined in the form of permanent eyebrows, eyeliner and or lip liner and color. The results are beautiful and immediate, however, as the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, it naturally fades over time.

    • Women with active lifestyles who want the time saving convenience without the daily routine of applying makeup.

    • Men and women with scars from surgery or trauma.

    • Anyone wanting to save money from cosmetic purchases.

    • Women who have difficulty applying make-up because of poor vision or physical limitations.

    • Women wishing to change the shape and shade of their lips, the shape of their eyebrows or would like to wake up with eyeliner.

    • Men and women who have sparse or fair eyebrows or lashes.

    • Women, who are allergic to cosmetics, have watery eyes, suffer from hay fever or whose skin tends to absorb or change the quality and color of their makeup.

  • Artist rates are based on their training, experience and results. Permanent makeup is an investment that helps save time. Compared to other cosmetic procedures like botox or fillers that last only months, permanent makeup can last years helping to save time from daily application of makeup. Initial rate includes two appointments. In our studio, we use only high quality pigments and state-of-art tools/equipment combined with our natural artistic skills that lead to excellent results. Those who select artists solely based on price risk receiving unflattering or poor results that lead to having to invest more money in removal. Also, if you choose an artist not properly trained in disease and infection control, you risk skin infections, or other illnesses such as Hepatitis B or C. We follow strict protocols to protect our clients and also ourselves.

  • In most cases discomfort is minimal. Our services are performed with the most effective topical anesthetics available, providing nearly total numbing of the area involved. With microblading, topical numbing is applied after the first pass. Clients describe the first pass like threading or tweezing and a “scratching sound.” After that, they don’t feel it at all. For Combo Brows, Powder Brows, Eyeliner, Lip Blush, a topical numbing will be applied before the proeured. If you are on your menstrual cycle during the procedure, it may increase discomfort. If you have Fibromyalgia, it could affect your tolerance to the procedure.

  • You must be 18 years or older to receive microblading or permanent makeup services at Samira BROW COUTURE.

  • We do NOT perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

  • In our studio, we work with sterilized, single-use needles, supplies and high-quality pigments. We are trained in disease/infection control and follow strict cleaning, disinfection and sterilization processes according to State regulations. The pigment is not re-used, rather any remaining pigment and blade after a procedure is discarded. We take skin infections and life-threatening illnesses such as Hepatitis B and C seriously. We also wear masks and protective gloves and ask that our clients wear masks for your protection from airborne viruses and other diseases. We ask that our clients follow strict post-care procedures to ensure proper healing.

Samira Brow Couture does not have control over your body's healing process (healing is specific to each individual) but you can expect that some residual swelling is normal for all procedures.

  • We do not perform touch-ups on other artists’ work due to differences in techniques and pigments used. We would be happy to take you as a new client provided that the work is faded enough. If you need us to assess, please send photos of the previous work to samirabrowcouture@gmail.com

  • Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure designed to cosmetically enhance the natural shape of the eyebrow using implantation of safe pigments into the epidermis layer of the skin with a fine blade, mimicking the eyebrow’s natural hair. The results are crisp, fine and realistic looking. The treatment can last up to 1-2 years depending on the skin type and is a two-part procedure - initial consultation/procedure and touch-up. Microblading creates balanced brows by utilizing the golden ratio that suits your unique face shape. It is almost impossible to differentiate between what hairs are real and what hairs are not. The procedure is perfect for those who have over-plucked or lost their brows through age, hormonal changes, and medication or are simply tired of dedicating time to drawing their brows on every day only to wipe or sweat them off.

Microblading is a multiple-step appointment process and is NOT complete after one session or an overnight procedure. It is important that you are patient with the process as two appointments are needed initially. Results depend on each person and skin type. You may see many changes between your first visit and healed results. Your new brows will NOT be complete after just one service. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, we assess at touch-up and we can go thicker, darker or denser with each appointment.

  • Microblading is done with a handheld tool with a disposable blade attached to create realistic looking hair strokes whereas 'Powder Brows' uses a machine for a more filled in looking brow. 'Combo Brows' uses a combination of microblading and shading technique.

  • No. We do not remove the hairs that are inside the shape we create for you. We will clean up any hairs that fall outside the shape.

  • After we measure, map and draw your brows with our tools and a pencil, we give you a handheld mirror to see how you like the shape. Once you approve it, we begin the process.

  • Yes, with the microblading method, you can have natural-looking brows, 24/7. Because this process is done by hand, it is easy to avoid harsh and unnatural brows. Hair strokes WILL appear crisp, darker and bold at first, but will soften up in appearance as the tissue heals. The area will shed, taking some color with it, and this is normal. The area will begin to oxidize and darken over the 1st month.

  • New procedures take up to two hours to perform, including consult, shaping and service. Touch-up appointments take an average of 30 minutes - 1 hour.

  • Please see our post-care for each service. Pigment color will appear darker at first, but as your skin exfoliates (avg. 28 days), you will see a truer healed color and results. The first two weeks (avg. 10 days) will be the most intense. Please be patient with the healing process and make sure to follow our aftercare.

  • Your eyebrows will look dark after your session, especially on the second day. This is a result of the natural oxidation process that takes place in the skin once pigment has been implanted. The color reacts slowly with oxygen in the air, turning it darker. This is a completely natural and normal occurrence. The color will fade as your skin heals. Don't be alarmed if your skin turns patchy during this process and in certain areas when it has healed. It is very normal. That is why a touch-up appointment is required.

  • Most normal activities can be resumed right away. Heavy exercise should be avoided for at least 10 days for best results—any sweat formed on your brows can fade your healing color. Swimming should be on hold for at least a week, pool chemicals would erode your healing color as well. Outdoors activities such as gardening or golf can be resumed after two weeks.

  • During week two, your skin will start to feel itchy and flaky. Follow the after-care. There can be a little scabbing if your skin is sensitive. DO NOT pick off these scabs; picking scabs may result in a loss of color or minor scarring.

  • This can happen for a number of reasons, but it usually has to do with skin type. Mature skin, more weathered skin, and drier skin may flake color off during the healing process. There should be the color underneath, but if not, we will touch it up at your follow-up appointment.

  • There is no definitive answer because it depends on each individual's skin type/tone, lifestyle/environmental factors (sun exposure, UV light, tanning, no sunscreen, smoking, etc.), health/physiology (retention of pigment varies with each person), and your skincare. If you have very oily skin, are a smoker, take thyroid medications and/or iron-deficient/anemic, the pigment will fade faster with microblading. If you have very oily skin, we recommend you get the powder or combo brows. It is very important to follow aftercare instructions carefully for best results. Over time, the pigment will become softer so a color boost treatment is recommended. We can not guarantee final results because everyone’s skin type is unique and may hold pigments differently.

  • It depends on your skin type and lifestyle. A touch-up is performed at 10-12 weeks after the first session for Samira’s clients and 6-8 weeks for Amanda’s clients. At your touch-up appointment, any changes you would like to make are discussed. Once again you can expect the color to fade but to a much lesser degree. In order to keep your results looking fresh, we recommend a touch-up every 6 months - 2 years after the initial touch-up, depending on skin type and lifestyle. Your pigment will last longer if you strictly follow the aftercare procedures. We can not guarantee final results because everyone’s skin type is unique and may hold pigments differently.

  • Microblading/Permanent Makeup is an art, not an exact science therefore healed results vary with each person. Samira Brow Couture make no guarantees about how your brows will heal and you may need additional sessions for best results (at an additional charge). Various factors affect healed results and we do our best to provide you with the best service with the high-quality training we have received. Please read the FAQ's and Before/Aftercare to determine if Microblading/Permanent Makeup is a good fit for you.

  • I have you have no brow hairs due to Alopecia, cancer or trichotillomania, we suggest you book Combo Brows to give your brows a fuller look.

NOTE: Samira Brow Couture does not have control over your body's healing process (healing is specific to each individual) but does expect that some residual swelling is normal for all procedures.  The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red & irritated. This is all 100% normal.  DO NOT PICK.   These symptoms will dissipate each day and vary on an individual basis. Color WILL fade/soften anywhere from 40% to 60%.  At the touch up faded areas will be fine-tuned. It is also important to realize that you will need a color boost every 1-2 years after the touch-up to maintain its fresh natural appearance. You may need to powder and/or pencil even after the healed results.  Remember, this is an enhancement to your natural brows, not a permanent one.
